Cork is awesome (as expected) does amazing coffee and has really friendly people. Also my Hotel was opposite a funeral home. These things happen.

Had to pay for an EXTRA ticket on the way home due to not using the outgoing portion of my return because a nice man gave me a lift to Cork from the most concentrated induction day ever. He saved me about 4 hours though, so I'm not complaining. That much. Ok, maybe a little bit. Stupid bus people.

And tomorrow I have to go back to work. *sigh*

Today wasn't any better, same old same old - except minus the rage-y rage. The turribly clever machine couldn't keep pressure. Tomorrow the man comes to change the new regulator in the hope that that solves the issue.

I did other things instead, like write spreadsheets and update SOPs and do washing up and generally potter. Bleh.

Did get bonus Fruit and Nut chocolate though. I have nice friends. I shared it amongst the technicians and so that all shall love me and despair.

And tonight there shall be bowling. For Young P's birthday. And they serve drinks. Yay.

Yay indeed.

Oh, and this is going around at work )

Grr. Argh.

Spent most of today waiting for argon. And why exactly were we waiting for argon? Because the man who delivers it DROVE DOWN FROM DUBLIN WITH AN EMPTY TANK.

...

How?!!!! How do you even do that? I don't even.

I did however make lovely standards. Lovely precise standards. And some samples. I am on a ROLL with my analytical chemistry this week.

So, eventually the argon arrived. The man with the truck having driven all the way back up to Dublin and then back down, avoiding all the roads closed for the Queen [unhelpful your Maj, a little more consideration of my sample next time you visit would be appreciated, k?].

Argon. Huzzah! There was much cheerfulness. And then. And then. >.< There was an oh dear.

The blasted machine can't keep pressure. Can't keep a flame.

Enough.

I was going to go home (check). I was going to drink a glass of wine (check). I was going to watch some Firefly (Waking the Dead actually, Boyd's flailing rage echoes my own perfectly). I was going to drink another glass of wine, yea even the whole bottle (getting there). And then I was going to curse the ICP, even unto the fourteenth generation.

I went home.

Have just invented new word. "Pfuh." Describes my day perfectly.

Today I put 100 samples on the machine. This took from 8am to 5pm. Consistently. But I refuse to be ground down (Illegitimi non carborundum and all that), I'm off to the field tomorrow and the weather looks like it's going to be kind to us.

Oh yus.

Came out of the interview thinking it had gone reasonably well considering. Overly talkative of course, but you can't stop a mouthy northern bint once she gets going.

Now I'm just sitting here thinking of all the things I didn't say and all the times I possibly looked a bit odd and generally tearing myself to shreds.

Probably was ok though.

I have rewarded myself by making an appointment with the physio for the durned trapped shoulder pain thing. No more pins and needles at annoying times for me! I hope.

And later tonight there shall be pints. Possibly of cider.

All hail the trinity of Bleh.

Woke up this morning to the sound of the Royal Mail van spinning his tires violently outside the house. Got up, found clothes, put clothes on (in the dark, hence top half on inside out as I discovered later), found waterproofs, put waterproofs on. By the time I got outside he'd finally figured out the whole "DON'T REV IT!!!" solution and stopped sliding into all the parked cars on the street. So he didn't need pushing.

I stayed up though to make sure the paternal unit could get the maternal unit's car out and onto the top road, riding up with him with the grit/salt and mini shovel for rescue purposes. Then we walked back. Did I mention the rain?

Understandably I then went back to bed.

Two hours later and it's still raining.

Like I said, Bleh.

So. Yesterday we went up Arthur's Seat (excessively cool) and then today I came home.

Good Bye Christmas And New Year. Hello reality. :(

And tomorrow I have to Go To The Bank Like a M_ F_ Adult.

Bleh.

Work have (as is their right) clamped down somewhat on social networking sites etc. I guess LJ/dreamwidth should be honoured that it is finally considered one of those after so many years of being totally ignored by the mainstream media. In consequence, for the next four weeks you're only likely to catch a flying glimpse of me at the weekends as the house I'm in is in a black hole when it comes to mobile internet coverage.

I'm negotiating with friends for visits (conjugal or otherwise) and indeed it's thanks to their broadband that I'm able to talk to you today. Lets give them a big hand folks!

Good morning. I have pain. I do not want pain. Plz to be arranging ovary/womb removal experiments soonest. Thnx.

Where is my Chocolate Flavoured Anadin?

I will write deep and meaningful fic, it is the only remedy. *hauls out snarky dialogue and prepares the edit pen*

Oh and while we're in a grumbling mood, Please Stupid-Government-That-I-Didn't-Vote-For, can we have less of this bandwaggon leaping with regard to large families. Either we have a sensible discussion and as a country decide that we would like to impose a cap on the number of children (a la China) via a democratic vote, or you SHUT UP. Because you haven't really drawn a line have you? You've just said "too many children baaaaaaaaaaad". Maybe so, malthus and all that, but without us all contributing to a decision on how many is too much you've just given the idiots in this country the right to take against whoever they like. Well done. Big Society is really gonna get a cohesive boost from your efforts. NOT.

You have pleased the Treehugger. You may live.

Other things: I went swimming last night. So very healthy am I. lol. And today dragged on forever, as has the whole week really. I need a weekend. Brain bubbling with the need to kick back and poke fic. Life interferes, (*sigh*) tis ok though - better things come from all the filtering.

Is it the weekend yet?

*This cross-posted from LJ where it makes sooooo much more sense

The virus has followed the usual procedure and meandered down onto my chest. Not fun.

*hacks and wheezes fitfully whilst reaching for the cough syrup*

Also my co-worker annoys me, the filing menaces me and I has a tired. Hopefully I should feel a humongous amount of better after a good night's sleep. *demolishes another tissue with mucus*

Fact: PMT and the making of travel arrangements do not go together at all well.

TH requires booze. In the shape of a very very large hammer. QUICKLY!!! (also a flight back from Pisa at a decent time to an airport in the north of England - oh and a website that let her look for that enquiry)

YES IT'S VAGUE. I KNOW THAT. BUT YOU WON'T TELL ME WHERE YOU FLY TO SO I CAN'T FILL IT IN CAN I?!!! MANCHESTER? Oh. No flights. Ok. Liverpool? No? *hunts for a list of airports in the north of England*

Dammit. I'm going to have to go to a travel agent. Let them do all this bloody crawling about through databases that require PRECISE INFORMATION THAT I DON'T HAVE!
huggeroftrees: (Heroine Addict)
If I come to you with a question, a request for information or as it were a perfectly valid enquiry, please do not reply with a stroppy form email which lacks any information originally requested, demands items from me in CAPSLOCK (why so shouty? Twas an innocent enquiry) and links to the previously unhelpful web-page Which, if you might recall, WAS WHY I WROTE TO YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!

FFS!!!

GAH!
